The first defense of Republicans when reminded of any damage they’ve caused: “Look, over there!”

I don’t remember seeing a similar cartoon from Mr. Lester when Mr. Giuliani was in open discussions with a known Russian spy while trying to dig up lies about Hunter Biden. Why is that?

What really happened, as covered by the San Francisco Chronicle, the local paper for Swalwell’s district (newest RW Meme of the Week):

In 2015, federal investigators “became so alarmed by Fang’s behavior” they alerted Swalwell and gave him a “defensive briefing” on the threat posed by Fang, prompting Swalwell to cut off all ties. A current U.S. intelligence official said Swalwell was not accused of any wrongdoing, and Fang left the country not longer after Swalwell was alerted.

Swalwell’s office told Axios in a statement, “Rep. Swalwell, long ago, provided information about this person — whom he met more than eight years ago, and whom he hasn’t seen in nearly six years — to the FBI. To protect information that might be classified, he will not participate in your story.”

The Axios report details tactics Fang used on other politicians, including her volunteering on South Bay Rep. Ro Khanna’s 2014 campaign, as well as “engaging in sexual or romantic relationships with at least two mayors of Midwestern cities over a period of about three years.”

The report has opened Swalwell up to all sorts of criticism from the right, with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy calling him “a national security liability” who should be stripped of his post on the House Intelligence Committee. Swalwell was not accused of wrongdoing, but McCarthy alleged, “this is only the tip of the iceberg” and demanded more information.

Remember Russian spy Maria Butina, who was more deeply involved in Republican politics, including Gov. Scott Walker’s Presidential campaigns? Remember Jeffrey Epstein, who was repeatedly associated with Donald Trump, who spoke admiringly of Epstein’s relationships with young women. Remember Fat Tony Salerno, one of the New York Mafia bosses Donald Trump regularly made deals with? Remember Leg Parnas, Crazy Rudy’s Ukrainian goon who was frequently photographed with Trump and his family.

Now try and remember all the cartoons Lyin’ Mike Lester drew about these guys. There’s one big reason you can’t.

Lester shows no concern about #45’s traitorous activity, trying to openly overthrow a Presidential election!

This what we left with now? Bringing up non stories from 2015?? Way to go GOP. … To sum it up for those who are not familiar.

Lester can imagine a Chinese spy under the hood of Swalwell’s car, but cannot imagine any Russian spies in the White House…

Surely Lester was equally outraged when Covid-Donnie invited Russian intelligence agents into the Oval Office to tell them he had fired Mr. Comey and taken care of the Russian interference problem.

Mike’s latest version of “Squirrel”! he was praying for some time for a distraction and had remained blissfully quiet until he found one in the depths of the RW echo chamber.

Let’s swap Swalwell for, let’s say, Republican Dan Crenshaw. How many of you would have a problem with a ’toon like above? The answer is few to none. Many of you would be all over this “scandal” and it would have generated much more media attention, too.
