Actually, I can’t understand why one is a cartoonist. When you take into account the time required to draw a single comic and multiply that by 5 to 7 days a week, and add how mentally exhausting it is to create a fresh story, twist in plot line, or a relative fresh joke each day, it becomes evident that a cartoonist job is very demanding and is hard work.
If I had to draw a cartoon today, I would have to draw it in gravy. :) Had an artist friend who used to doodle with condiments, mixing the palette on a plate. It was certainly a way to pass the time waiting in restaurants.
This is a good time for young Amanda to start drawing the new Sunday strip. It would be about a mermaid. She is the defender of the entire sea. She can leap a title wave in a single bound. She scares the pirates so much that they have to change their diapers. She is SUPER-MERMAID. I don’t want any credit or anything from this idea. It’s just something for young Amanda to do on Sunday’s.
