I guess we’ll see, won’t we. I’m 100% in favor of universal health care, a living minimum wage and easy access to education (that’s NOT the same as “easy education”). And requiring the obscenely wealthy to pay a fairer share of taxes… and I have proof that these things are both possible and good wherever they’ve been well implemented.

And then there are all the NOT left wing things that GOPists CALL “left wing”. Things like international agreements, working to ameliorate climate change, funding regulatory agencies, getting kids back with their parents…

What “far left policies”? Universal healthcare? Dealing with the climate crisis before we and every living thing on earth die?

Even if Democrats were promoting policies that were considered “far left” in the past (which they aren’t), they’re not “far left” now thanks to Republicans.

Since the Republicans didn’t have a platform, that means there’s no relative position to compare Democrats’ policies to. You have a party with policies, and a party with a loser who they think can do no wrong.

Policies are for grownups. Maybe when you’re old enough…

ANY politics that do not involve tax preference for the rich and secret bribes and payoffs are ‘far left’.

And there IS no such thing as center-left or even plain left, only radical far left wing, correct?

As opposed to the far right agenda we have had to endure for the last four years.

If you can’t carry a gun to a polling station, you are a ‘far leftist’. If you want equal rights for all, you are a ‘far leftist’. If you want healthcare for all, you are a ‘far leftist’. If you want a healthy environment, you are a ‘far leftist’.

So. Mr. Breen, are you going to be a sore loser for four years? Or should I quote the GOP to HRC: “Get over it.”

So you’re an establishment Democrat, huh, Breen? Because that’s the propaganda they’ve been pushing for a long time. It’s a lie.

Funny how those House incumbents who LOST were conservative Democrats, while those people who ran on policies that a large majority of the populace like, almost all won. Who’s the baggage now?

P.S. I’ll add that the other commenters are right, there aren’t any “far left” policies in U.S. politics.

Some people don’t seem to understand how insurance works. It’s a system that shares risk. It shares risk among people who won’t end up costing the system as much as they pay in and people who will end up costing the system more than they pay in. It shares risk between the younger me, who probably will pay more than I get, and the older me, who will get more than I pay. The deal is that you can’t know if you will end up with a catastrophic illness or not. In 1958 my Dad came down with an unexpected and unpredictable catastrophic illness; he was in the hospital for nine months. We would have been wiped out, but fortunately he had extra-special super-deluxe insurance, which covered almost all the cost. Everyone should have this kind of coverage. In civilized countries, everyone does.

I wish the Democrats would look at some far left policies… and I can tell you that they don’t even come close.

Is recognizing and working to control global environmental degradation a far-left policy? Is joining with the rest of the world to fight a global pandemic a far-left policy? In short, when did concern for the existential issues for the species become far-left?

Reversing climate change, student loan relief, increasing the minimum wage… are all wildly popular. “Defunding the police” was just terrible branding.

And,……he’s back! Mr. Breen is the conservative that hates Trump and progressive policies.

Funny how the progressives won their races… and added many new faces. But that’s the problem huh Breen? Seems like the blame shifting of this “administration” is contagious.

The drag on congress was more a result of Right Wing Gerrymandering than of Left Wing Polices.

Excuse me, but Dem. policies are broadly much more popular than Publican ones (whatever they are—the “party of ideas” was over long ago).

The powers that be in the Democrat party had best pay attention or get out of the way. None of the progressive ideas are new: Climate concerns, economic disparity, systematic hiring inequity, policing inequity, judicial inequity, to name but a few. We have much to answer for here at home and across the globe. Americans have repeatedly voted for a new way, a more equal opportunity way, and political power brokers like DNC and DCCC, and committee heads in Congress, have sadly convinced us that Centrist is the only safe path. Centrists gave us the Lie of BlueDog Dems, who voted regularly with GOP on issues. They were Dems in name only.Democrats, by every measure, have NOT changed their platform. Republicans have moved to the extreme right. Look it up. Stop moving us right. The GOP has to change their obstructionism, their votes which are solely based on self-gratification, or god willing Democrats will continue to beat them. We will continue to demand progressive candidates whatever the “old guard” says, because our job will Only be met when people have the relief of health care, of a living wage, of police and justice and election systems that recognize every citizen as having a say.

The right wingers have moved to a new web site to plot their destruction against the elected government of the USA since Facebook kicked their lying avatars out.

This is just wrong. Progressive candidates have won all of their elections. To say that the mainstream Democratic Party is approaching even center-left is hilarious.

“Far left” policies are widely popular, and do not way Democrats down. It is the fact that Democrats are ineffective in terms of policy, and smearing them as socialists without any good policies to back it up that is quenching Dem support.
