Drove through a small town yesterday. A little pre-fab home with no garage, siding falling off, pretty dumpy. Had two trump signs out front. I sure trump cares about them. Another house had 10 trump signs, a truck with a banner and trump flags all over it and a flag on the garage door. It is definitely a cult. Has any president been worshiped like this cult leader has been?
A few days ago a good friend related a conversation he had with a local farmer. The farmer works pretty large holdings (for central Indiana), and he has a large stake in beans (that’s soy beans to non-Hoosiers) and corn, and some livestock, as well. My friend noted the “Trump/Pence” signage in the farmer’s yard. Since some farmers in the area are toying with the idea of Democratic support this year, and this fellow is a savvy and intelligent man, my friend was confounded by the sign’s presence. So he decided to stop and converse with him about the rationale for the farmer’s GOP support. Long story short, the farmer lost about $70K in bean sales when Ol’ Punkinhead declared the trade war on China. About half of his loss was later reimbursed via the government pay-outs. (I have speculated that Indiana farmers did better than many others because Putz is from our state.) My friend pointed out that his losses were a direct result of the “trade wars” on China (and Mexico), which the farmer acknowledged. Further, my friend pointed out that the reimbursement (along with other Farm Bill benefits) was basic socialism at its best. The farmer grimaced like he’d taken a swig of 3 day old coffee, and admitted that fact, too. “So then,” asked my friend, “why the hell are you supporting Trump, who caused you all this financial trouble in the first place, and has done so little to help afterwards? In fact, he has caused all kinds of economic and other damage to the country in the last 4 years.” “Well,” came the reply, “I think Biden is a Communist, and he wants to turn America into a Communist country. That’s why I support the Republicans and Trump.”
Nice to see folks who know how to build and repair things themselves. There are, after all, forums wholly populated by folks who only buy stuff…and others with folks who only know how to break stuff.
That bothers the socks off of me, too. Particularly when a lot of people in Appalachia have built (or their grandparents built) with their own hands the houses they live in, something I doubt Jeff has done or could do. AND are practicing vernacular socialists too! (it’s not by accident that the very subversive Highlander Center is in Appalachia)

Classic Jeff with all his class iconography which I just deplore. But it still delights me. What are the letters on the barrel?

Suburban = cognitively deficient? morally vacuous? ethically challenged? caste protective?

Shouldn’t there be a couple more cars on the “lawn”, at least one of them up on cinderblocks? It needs a few more coon hounds, too.

Once again, the chickens vote for the Colonel and his “heated swimming pool”.
