A guy I know says he always seem to be working to keep up with a schedule that everybody knows but him. Frustrating. I can empathize.

The trouble with life is that you are halfway through it before you realize it’s a “do it yourself” proposition.
The essence of the difference between science and art – science creates the narrative from play, art creates the narrative in spite of the play.
I often have the feeling everybody is adlibbing their lines. And indeed, certain circumstances are getting VERY old.
Did you learn your lines today?
Well, there is no rehearsal.
The tickets have all been sold
For tomorrow’s matinee.
There’s a telegram from the writer,
But there is no rehearsal.
