You don’t have to think too many moves ahead when you are playing Roger.

Roger, other kids’ fathers don’t turn out to be such big babies whenever they lose the game (which you always do!) that nobody can stand to play with them.

Of my four kids, my youngest (son) is my gamer. I never have to beg him to play. From Chess to War of The Ring (a rather complex Tolkien-themed board-game) he’s always up for it.

Back in the day, we had an Atari 800 computer. I worked 4-Midnite, and my father would play a game, then I’d come home and beat his high score, and then he’d spend the next day trying to beat mine. We kept it going for a while.

Other fathers aren’t as desperate for chess opponents as you are, Roger.

When an activity cost me money I either learned how to win or do it well enough to not lose money, or I stopped participating.

As a child, we didn’t really play many games as a family. Occasionally chess with my dad, Go with my uncle and brother, cards with my grandpa. It wasn’t until college that I really started to get the chance to play games and it is definitely part of the household now. Played a game of Ticket to Ride Norway last night – the wife pounded us!

I used to play chess or dominoes with Dad every Sunday after supper. I usually lost. I miss that now…
