They may not speak any of our human languages, but cats speak in their own language. Some of their words are easy to understand’ – “Feed me” and “Let me out (or in)”. Others are hard to understand like when my Fluffy does what I call her" caterwauler" for no apparent reason. Just once a day, I’ll hear her, “Mrroworrow” several times. I have no idea what she’s trying to say.
My TV went haywire this afternoon (Tuesday). I had the TV on in the living room while I was finishing up a little cleaning in the kitchen and first I heard the sound going off and on. I thought maybe a cat was sitting on the remote. It got to be around 4:00 and I wanted to change the channel for the next show I wanted to watch. But when I pushed the channel up/down button, the TV started scanning through all of my channels. At first, I thought I somehow pushed the wrong button and did some “auto program” kind of thing, but no – you can’t do that just pushing one button. You have to push the menu button, then scroll down to auto program – it’s a lot more than just hitting one button. I tried switching channels hitting the number buttons for channel 27.2, but the TV just started scrolling through all the channels again, stopping when it felt like stopping. I tried pressing the power button with the same result. No matter which button I pushed, it did the same thing, scrolling channels and then stopping on some channel I didn’t want. I unplugged the TV and plugged it in again to see if that would reset it. Didn’t work. It kept doing the same nonsense. I finally gave up, unplugged it, disconnected the antenna and brought my old TV down from my computer room so I could watch TV until I can get another TV. One of my favorite channels is showing Jack Benny all day on Saturday (my next day off). I want to spend much of the day watching that. The old TV will work for that. But I’m pretty annoyed with the TV I had in the living room. I can’t figure out what went haywire with it.
Bra Day USA. A couple days ago, it was No Bra Day.
Medical Assistants Recognition Day
National Pumpkin Cheesecake Day. I’m surprised it doesn’t say Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake Day. Everything these days is pumpkin spice. I love cheesecake, but leave the pumpkin out of it.
To no great surprise, my second Covid-19 test was also negative. I may only be a retired science teacher instead of the self-important people down at the Health Department, but I can do a Contract Trace and I was Never in contact with anybody who tested positive for Covid-19. They all live 55 minutes down the Interstate in a county that is a Covid hotspot. They are getting better, by the way.
I read three or four on arcamax and they changed it so only people with facebook can comment. You can’t even just LIKE it. I read Bizzaro and a lot of the time I just don’t get it and have always read the comments where people explain it.I have no idea what the one today is about.
Well in my experience I believe cats speak and some are very vocal. The 2 loud mouths in my life are Colin (he was the 3rd member, the youngest, in the Dale and Kristen threesome). Talk about obnoxious, constant meowing (orange tabby just like Chesney…it figures). He welcomed Oliver and Tyler to the family….and apparently bequeathed the loud mouth effect onto my Oliver. Colin also played with water….splashed it all over. If my Oliver develops that trait too then the spirit of sweet Colin remains. I just posted their pic on FB today. ..
Laughingkitty …. Try using the built-in TV functions that are ON the TV itself. I realizes nobody bothers with those since remotes came into being. This is Gweedo’s suggestion. If that doesn’t work, nor fresh batteries in your remote, then it may be time for a new TV.
Spike could talk, in English. She had about a dozen words and could call my daughters by name: Or-ah for Jora and Ari-ah for Jerika. When Jerika was gone for 5 weeks one summer, Spike would look for her in all her usual places, asking, “Ari-ah?” in each one. Then she would jump on my lap, put her face in mine and ask, “Where Ari-ah?” For her last two years she was on kitty dialysis and when she knew it was time for a treatment she would start screaming, “NO!” RIP, Spike.
Anyone who thinks that cats aren’t talkative has never been around them when it’s time for their dinner. They’re quite vocal when they want to be fed. On another note. saw two banana slugs and five chickadees while out walking today. I also saw a robin outside in my garden.

I understand my cats’ limited vocabulary. “Scritches” “Breakfast” “More Scritches” “Dinner”

My Ericka — pictured here — would often try to speak to me. She would even act things out. She was a drama queen.
