Trump expresses the hatreds of His Disciples and gives voice to them.

They want to go back to the good old days of open discrimination, Jim Crow laws and when they could tell n____ jokes without consequences.

That’s what they mean when they say he’s in favor of the little guy.

    .

In return, they are willing to live in a Russian oligarchy and will fight for tax cuts for billionaires.

I’m sorry, he has so damaged this country and allowed so many people to be harmed or killed that I can’t even rustle up a bit of desire to want to feel bad for him. Not sorry.

I want him on a respirator until his term ends. And then he can go to court and jail.

When it comes to inspiring hate, he’s a world-class champion.

40% of all Americans love him for it, and will vote to re-elect. Go figure.

Social division requires two or more people participating in being divided. I have not seen the Democrats being any more or less divisive, or hate and fear mongering, than the Republicans. We are awash in mutually perpetuated strife, which at the moment remains verbal, for the most part. Reminiscent of two groups of chimps screaming and throwing s—t at each other. We seem to be deciding whether we want it to abate, remain verbal, or take up arms and IEDs and become Northern Ireland, or Syria.

There is a meditative practice known as Tonglen, in which you breathe in a negative quality, like fear or hatred, then breathe out its inverse, like security or love. You start with doing it for someone you love (a partner, family member or pet), inhaling their pain and exhaling to them the relief of that pain. Then you expand your circle of concern to practice Tonglen for unknown neutral people: someone in the grocery store, the teller at the bank, the driver of the car in front of you, the person in a story in the paper beset by a tragedy. The final step is to actively breathe in the pain of someone you dislike, and send them the positive feeling that would heal their pain. Difficult to practice. It might not heal them. It might heal us.

Imagine a Republican torn between basic values of compassion and the suffering of a monster.

    I can’t. Can you?
