My uncle offered this comparison, which I dimly remember: “All the streaming services are just like when I went into Blockbuster Video too late on a Saturday. Nothing but oddball B-List movies and a tiny handful of A-List titles that I’d very likely seen already.”

I used to have “media fugues”. If I was down I’d read all the books in my personal library, which took a week or so. Later I would watch all my DVDs which would take two weeks. Then, came TV on Demand; it took a month to go through all the movies available. Now, with the Internet, it’s too easy to spend the rest of your life in a fugue. I went back to re-reading all the books in my personal library.
