I guess that Pluggers are the only ones with vehicles old enough to have turn signals operated by analogue relays (which produced the “clicking” sound we all remember).
If the turn signal in my car is left on too long, it makes a loud chime to make you look at the dash display. It’s the same chime that it makes if there is a problem with the engine, fuel, or whathaveyou.
Rather be behind someone that doen’t turn the signal off that the idiots that don’t use their turn signals. At least you are alerted that they may turn rather than the sudden near stop and turn.
I don’t do that very often, but there’s a really shallow (small angle) turn near my home where self-cancelling signals almost never work so lots of signals get left on there … for blocks sometimes.
My current vehicle turn signals are completely silent. The whole car is very quiet, which makes listening to music enjoyable, but I’m still used to turn signals making a sound. I do get an alarm is it is on too long.

Many years ago, there was a geriatric standup comic who said, “I just love being here in California. I drove here all the way from Minneapolis.”
“With my turn signal on the whole freakin’ way!”

Pluggers living in the mountains don’t have that problem.. they rely on the next curve to turn that signal off.

People usually lose hearing in the higher ranges before the lower ones. Turn signal sounds are relatively high-pitched.
