But the first phrase he spoke after learning it was pronounced in a way the instructor said would be an insult to someone’s mother.

Reminds me of the comedies where a person is trying to speak a foreign language and at the bottom of the screen they have what he is actually saying.

I have noticed that just about every foreign language I learned started with the “naughty” words and “thank you”. Odd, that.
