I have a niece who went to an SEC powerhouse, and she was the campus TV news director. Whenever her school was featured on CBS, she made sure a she had several shots of her per quarter as a typical coed enjoying the game.

Observe the way Ernie beautifully “cheats” the facing directions and perspective, much as an actor would on stage: there’s no way that specific configuration of spectator stands makes sense for watching a football game (spectators to the left of the TV booth, as we see them, are facing Nancy’s ear rather than the game—or if they can see the game, then Nancy can’t), but he needs both his foreground and background actors to be facing the audience.
