I am actually in complete agreement with the people who worry that without face-to-face schools and jobs our society is going be radically transformed, quite probably for the worse. But SO WHAT? I’m also in complete agreement with the idea that we can save a lot of lives (well, okay, “could” save… if only) by staying in our pods, and being thoughtfully careful in our interactions until (unless?) we get up to at least world-wide average in our ability to test and do contact tracing. According to the NYT today, this administration has been so incompetent and fact-averse that the US has had 145,000 more deaths than we’d have had if we did as well as the average nation.

If the experiment goes badly, it will also be your final test.
And I DO mean “final.”

This cartoon reminded me of what must be an old programmer’s joke: to know recursion, you must first know recursion.

I would like to see a Republican politician, or a MAGA, in each and every classroom. just to show how safe it is.
