“Loop” trails are the worst. My “hiking” companion always wants to turn back when we’re halfway around. :)

Used to play guide for the Airmen stationed in Mtn Home, ID when they wanted to go backpacking. I usually planned 3 day trips, in a large circular hike. I would quite often hear the “Are we there yet?” and “Shouldn’t we turn back now?”I loved the looks on their faces when we would walk up to the parked truck on the opposite end of where we left.

Hiking in the mountains (a long time ago) I was exhausted and told my hiking companion I was going to sit down and rest. Then the sound of thunder and the sight of lightning got me re-energized and my fellow hiker could hardly keep up with me on the way to the chalet.

Bring a compass, its awkward when you have to eat your friends.
