The rules say that a police officer cannot be prosecuted or sued in civil court for any actions that are deemed legal. If an officer believes the person they shoot / choke / club /run over / etc., is a threat, it’s all legal. When the paperwork is filed they invariably report that they believed they were threatened. Case closed.
Video and a few brave prosecutors are trying to overcome this mockery, but the Supreme Court will have to reverse legal dogma to effect any substantial changes.
I think we may all have to take our turns, demonstrating indefinitely, for the police themselves to realize they are in the wrong & we’re not gonna take it anymore.
Politicians in both major parties are all talk. Had it not been the Civil Rights movement there wouldn’t have been any progress. This time anarchist on both political sides of the spectrum are trying to sabotage any further progress.
It was protesters of American racism that created the Civil Rights movement.
Look at the pictures of how white people were attacking black people in those days.
America has been one of the most racist countries in the world when we had apartheid, confederate general Trump the racist wants to bring that back again.
Yesterday, I was just thinking about which groups have been hardest hit by the pandemic, and realized that hitch hikers who were already endangered are probably on the brink of extinction. I sure wouldn’t pick one up these days.
For those who missed civics class: A demagogue or rabble-rouser is a leader who gains popularity in a democracy by exploiting emotions, prejudice, and ignorance to arouse some against others, whipping up the passions of the crowd and shutting down reasoned deliberation. Demagogues overturn established norms of political conduct, or promise or threaten to do so.
