Facebook and other social media need to do a better job of eliminating the false information being spread about Covid. For example, it takes forever for Facebook to tag posts as “false news” even if the post comes AFTER FB already tagged the source as false. FB also leaves all the comments in place, and the comments include conspiracy theories about how the truth is being hidden and additional nonsense. The TRUTH needs to take priority in a pandemic.
They see a rabbit. The first statistician fires, hitting 5 feet in front of the rabbit. The second statistician fires, hitting 5 feet behind the rabbit.
The third statistician shouts “We got him! We got him!”
The last person eaten by a shark here in Maine was back in the mid 1800’s so what are the odds! Go ask Susan Collins, she says those sharks have learned their lesson.
Florida hit a peak back in mid-April of about 46 deaths/day and then was coming back down VERY slowly. Then in mid-June, it started a tiny bit of a climb back up from 42 deaths/day. Then around July 1st, it started skyrocketing and is now in excess of 124/day, or almost triple the peak back in April.
And Trump seems to think the important part is “deaths/cases” and not “deaths/capita.” To show how stupid this is, which is worse:
Scenario 1) We have 300 confirmed deaths over the whole country and we know, without a doubt, that’s the only deaths from the virus. So that’s about 1 person in 1 million. We have conducted 1200 tests and found 600 cases. So we have 50% of the people died that we know had the virus. We know that of the tests we’ve run, 25% of the people tested have died. And we know, without a doubt, those were the only cases nation-wide. So we have about 1 person in every 250,000 that was tested and 1 in every 500,000 was actually sick.
Scenario 2) We have 3,000,000 deaths from the virus. So 1 in every 100 people has died from the virus or 1%. We’ve tested every single person in the US (around 300,000,000) and found 50% of them have been infected. So the deaths are 2% of the cases. So now we have everyone was tested, 1 person in every 2 has had it and 1 person in 100 has died from it.
Which is worse? According to Trump, scenario 1 is worse because 1 in 4 that were tested died.
