only a few weeks or a month (depending on where you live; Arizona for the former and Washington for the latter for example) until school starts up again despite the pandemic

My four grandkids have been going to classes remotely since the beginning of their school year in May. They’re doing very well, and with the exception of missing their friends and school activities, they really like taking classes virtually.

We old folks need to remember that this is the electronic generation and they’re accustomed to using their phones and computers for social interaction and learning.

Their parents are very pleased with their progress and think that they are learning more because they don’t have the distractions of a classroom.

The comic in general: Father and aunt (his sister) looking over their family; were we ever told what happened to the mother? Father seems to be a good man – and a good father – so, I can’t imagine the mother leaving.

Just curious as to the history of this strip.

The people who should be pushing Very Hard for Remote Learning are companies that make, sell and provide Computers & Internet services.

Probably half the students in America will need new computers. Many will also need an Upgrade in they Internet services.

Some because their existing computer or monitor is too old to support the classroom software. Or at least need to have a Camera installed.

In families with more than One student, they often Shared the family’s Only computer. Or the only Kids’ Computer.

There are also large chunks of America where the Cable Company has Never Installed the infrastructure to provide the Faster Internet service required, particularly if Everyone in town is logging on at the same time. They count on Businesses logging Off before the people at Home log on.
