I keep trying to think of what The Donald’s hair reminds me of. Kind of like a bird-of-paradise plant, crossed with a haystack, with a bit of Stevie Nicks circa 1983 …

With political candidates like these, I say we need to go back to the days of one-man rule, and appoint a dog to be king.

He couldn’t do much worse than the politicians of the last 50+ years.

You mean GT is making fun of a would be GOP candidate? Compared to some candidates the other party has fielded, say George Wallace, he don’t look that bad. I guess GT is saying one party is self centered and the other is intolerant of any other views.

Trump has done the “white house from afar” bit to make Obama jokes, but never drawn him. Probably because it’s hard to decide how to represent him.

Trump, however, is easy to decide how to caricature.

There’s something monstrous about the Donald’s hair. It seems to have a life of its own. I strongly suspect that he is, in fact, wearing a disguised Cthulu on his head.

Hmmm… yes, but not because he’s a would be GOP candidate… Like a good caricaturist, GT is just drawing what he sees. Like a good caricature, DT keeps providing the material.

    Lewreader also said,

No, he’s still talking Repubs… funny that they qualify as “two parties” in your book… ;-)

Fortunately, Holden, no one votes Democrate.

Why is it that the regressives on the Gocomics’ forums have more trouble with basic spelling and grammar than do the progressives?

@rayannina, Stevie Nicks? No way… but maybe Grace Slick during the “Starship” era…

@GEE1A, Sorry, but you’ve violated Godwin’s Law and nullified your list. Nice try! But “The Joker”…? He’s a bomb-throwing Anarchist in the Bill Ayers tradition, just as is… oh, never mind.

@Randywriter, Exactly. What do you think the Donald’s popularity is all about?

@meetinthemiddle, I think it’s exactly the opposite. GT knows exactly how to represent him, but is afraid to try. No matter how he drew Obama, he’d either fail as a satirist or fail as a liberal. There’s no middle ground, as it were.

@MobyD: You are correct that people like Trump do not get their own hotdogs but I suspect it is somewhere further down the employee list than minions that get the hotdogs. Let’s see. You have assistants, henchmen, minions, underlings, and the most likely candidate for the job, the lowly gofer.

I am waiting to see a blast from the Trumpet about GT’s lampoon; He hates criticism, and must know that his complaints get him only more publicity, See his insulting letter about Gail Collins of NYTimes, which inspired yet another column from her, giving him more ink. www.nytimes.com/opinion/ and search for Trump letter 4/4/11

Trump as President would be a bigger embarrassment to the U.S. than even Carter, Bush II, or Obama. In each case, America deserved better.

And to anyone who uses the word “Progressive” for the Far Left, it was a major coup over a century ago when they redefined progress to mean only movement to socialism. It was almost as big a win as when they changed “liberalism” from advocating limited government and a free market to advocating the welfare state.

(Brian: How do you like my spelling and grammar? I don’t like your name-calling.)

I don’t think Trump has ever been on a street or in public since he was a kid. All the people that approach him are admitted by his handlers at private events.

Kifariel, why does every political “flame war” attract some bleeep who tries to tell those whom he doesn’t agree with to shut up and go away?

Sorry to disrupt your cum-by-ya moment, but what better place for a conservative to comment than a liberal petting zoo? Besides, I agree with Garry about one third of the time. Note how he was careful to list ALL the networks that are covering Trump. His comments are more about them, not Trump himself, and most of them are only tagging along because they don’t want to get scooped by Fox… again. That’s what REALLY turns GT’s crank.

GEE1A, 1943, et al. … . This is an example of what’s wrong with political discussions these days. No one has reason to vote FOR something, they’re always voting against another. Last fall an (R) called to ask my support for The Party not because what the (R) could do, but because they aren’t Obama / Pelosi. That may be reason not to support the (D) but not reason to support the (R).

Any idiot, or for that matter, racist, can seek a party’s nomination. George Wallace was never nominated by the Democratic party, so to claim he was a Democratic presidential candidate is ridiculous. In any case, the Republicans at this point have a solid lock on the racist vote when it comes to national elections.

GT never actually draws Presidents. He uses silly icons: a waffle for Clinton, an asterisk for W (later topped by a Roman centurion helmet).

He hasn’t even done an icon yet. It’s always exterior shots of the White House with Obama’s voice coming out. Make of that what you will.

People who managed to get beyond the second grade understand the concept of “false dichotomy”. NOTHING is that simple.

Progressive is someone who wants to move society forward. The opposite of progressive would be regressive, someone who wants to send society BACKWARD.

The wafer thin line between progressive and regressive is called “status quo”. There is NO ONE ALIVE who is happy with EVERYTHING that is, as it is, so these people DO NOT EXIST.

You may substitute left for progressive and right for regressive.

EVERY SINGLE liberal, moderate, conservative, and ultra-conservative BY DEFINITION is a leftist. Only those called reactionaries are right wingers.

To show you WHY your staggeringly ignorant statement on socialism and the far left is a crock, let’s examine some of those who are on the right have DEEP socialistic roots.

Evangelicals are right wingers who are socialistic to the core. even the most far left person you can find is not as socialistic. Proof? read Acts 4:32-5. An evangelical’s Constitution is the Bible, and Paul is his god.

Neocons (named such because Kristol did not want to be confused with conservatives) get their entire methodology from Trotsky. EVERYTHING THEY DO, from fundraising, to pamphleteering comes from his model.

Baggies (don’t EVER call them members of theTEAPARTY because baggies would have fought against the Sons of Liberty FOR King George as Tories) are simply dishonest evangelicals.

Finally, the ONLY people who have defined progressives as socialism and liberalism as welfare state are the drooling imbeciles of the right whose COMPLETE lack of education makes it IMPOSSIBLE for them to discuss ANYTHING without creating straw men they can knock down. They are INCAPABLE of winning discussions based on fact or logic.
