The summer before I started graduate school, I worked for a navy contractor. My supervisor was a navy vet from the 70’s, and he REALLY wanted to do drugs, but he knew the testing program would catch him for sure. He got around this by building a sensory deprivation chamber, which he would stay in until he hallucinated. He complied with the letter of the law, but that cannot have been good for his mind.
