it is part of the answer…… the feds have failed us…the states are closer and we still have leverage…..this is the “by the people” part which has disappeared

And we know what will happen: states will give tax cuts to the wealthy, then claim there’s no money for the poor, the disabled, the sick.

Block grants are currently being used very successfully. States have proven better at distributing the funds than the feds are.

^ No, not really. The politics in my state mirrors DC with the exception that my governor has a spine.

It’s almost cute how these right wing commentators maintain their faith in the Republican intention to do what is right for the people; cute, that is, if it weren’t so dangerous and enabling for the plutocratic agenda that will gut this country of all that’s decent.

The righties are lining up with their hypodermics and spoons to inject more “Ryan’s Dope”– or is that TV show they all watch? I love the way he wants to “take away” corporate spiffs– from the front display window, –and give them out through the back door.

again do the math….tax the wealthy at 100% of income……and it still doesn’t fix the problem…neither does giving money to Unions, GE, GM, Banks..crooked government housing and mortgage agencies…..RYAN is right……come up with something that works or STFU

^ The federal government is not giving money to unions. Why is that part of your equation? You should add that cutting 100% of domestic discressionary programs won’t fix the problem, either.

Here are some things that would work:

Getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan and cutting the Pentagon budget would be a start. Step 2 should be to get rid of agri-business farm subsidies, oil and coal depletion allowances, and other corporate welfare programs. Step 3, remove the income cap on FICA to shore up Social Security. Add an excess profits tax on salaries over $1million/year. Legalize marijuana and tax its consumption, saving $ billions on the “War on Drugs”. Cut EVERY government office budget by 5% for waste.

Some great ideas Bluejayz!! The wars alone are costing $321 million/day. It wouldn’t take a rocket scientist to fix the budget tomorrow.
