In the first panel, the ball appears to be traveling under the batter’s arms about an inch away from his abdomen. That’s some heater. With metal bats, “CLINK!” might be more accurate in p. 3. Or maybe “CLANK!” if it’s exceptionally well-hit.

I don’t even want to know what a ‘soft-tosser” is.

“Big muscles, goggles and a shaved head.” That one’s going in my top ten all-time Gil quotes.

A well hit ball with the aluminum bat should be a resounding PING!! Gil must have hemoroids or something with that stern look for Marjie the reporter.

Yeah, the fact that the batter swung over the ball that just missed hitting him is amazing. Actually he’s lucky that he swung over it or he would have broke his wrist or forearm cause his hands are way outside of where the ball is.

I think there is something quantum going on in panel one. The ball seems to be traveling under the batters left arm and through his right elbow.
