I’m noticing this same puzzled look on the faces of my grandchildren these days. I feel like I should be starting sentences with “In the olden days…………….”.
Emmylou’s voice and ability to harmonize with others is unsurpassed. For younger readers who may think Harris is a little too country or old fashioned I suggest checking out her album Wrecking Ball which was a bit of a revival for her illustrious career in the 1990s. Her album with Mark Knoffler is also fantastic.

I have my grandparent’s 1934 (‘36?) Philco console radio. Still works tho tubes can be hard to find. 1 AM band and 2 short wave
