I’m sure we’ll find out, but what was happening at the Javits center then? A stamp collectors’ convention? (I went there a few times in the late 90s/early 00s to go to Macworld back when Steve Jobs had just taken over, and saw the unveilings of the iMac and the original iBook computers. The trade show floors were amazing — back when software was still sold as a physical thing, in a box, with documentation even.)

If you don’t walk, the pizza will lie heavy on you. Penn to Javits? NYers walk that on their hands! Tsk, tsk, country girl! :-p

Re: New York pizza. Maybe it’s changed, but when I was a kid, it didn’t matter which pizza place you went to. There was one on practically every corner. And they were all fantastic.

It wouldn’t be good for us if you didn’t write this comic.

I went to NYC once! Well, my dad had been transferred back down South from the Groton Navy base, and we drove through NYC. In February. When I was 6 weeks old. And the car broke down.

Mama said a nice man looked at us and yelled “Hey, let’s give these people withe the cute baby a hand!” (or words to that effect), and they got the car going again. Mama said New Yorkers were the nicest people she ever met.

And there was no mention of the 16mo toddler being cute, so – sorry brother mine!

Now, of course, I have to follow this strip religiously in order to confirm my mother’s high opinion of New Yorkers. And to get some idea from a real, live, non-Hollywood-type person about NYC. Thank you for this opportunity!

Went to NYC with my dad when I was 7. Saw a ballgame at the Polo Grounds.

I bet David Letterman wishes he had known you at the time when you were outside the studio. You are now more famous than he ever will be.
