    is it a good thing Andy’s wearing that cap to block out the onions’ fumes from getting into his eyes? (what was the word Calvin used when he found his mother crying but also turned out to be cutting onions?)

    I’m sure someone can explain how running cold water over the knife blade prevents the eyes from watering…

    @Linguist Today’s strip IS funny , our HERO Mr Andrew Capp impression that Flo was crying were dashed when she reminds mentions that it was because she was peeling onions , which reminds me of a joke were two friends were trying a very hot dip made from very hot chilli peppers the first one that tried it started weeping , when asked by his mate why he was weeping he said , that it was he had just remembered his late mother , then the other chap tried it and wept and asked why he wept he quipped that it was because he remembered the first ’s @3%74 mother :o) My avatar is a spoof of the mind set of certain pole men everywhere , ignoring that the poor bloke was being mugged by a thug , the cop gave the victim a ticket for double parking :o) comment avez vous passe votre jour mon mien vieux ami ? our day should be busy but calm I hope now that most restrictions have been eased off in Malta ,a bientot

    I keep an onion in the fridge which is wrapped in a small brown bag and then in a small plastic bag. I have a container in the fridge door where i store the onion. When cutting the onion never cut from the root end. This way the onion won’t cause the eyes to water and sting. I’ve been doing this for years and it works. No, I don’t know why but it does. When you get near the root end, work very fast and then discard the root part in the refuse and wash your hands.

    Perhaps Flo should chop Andy… On 2nd thought, if she did the cartoonists would be out of work!

    She’s cooking. He just might turn around and leave while there’s time.

    My all-time favorite Andy episode was one where Andy was leaving with his suitcase, and Flo was crying hysterically. A passerby asked Flo: “Do you know Andy Capp?” She replied, “I should do, I’ve been studying theatre under him for twenty odd years!”

    Nah, I don’t buy the “chopping onions” thing. She will be crying because Andy has come back. So I echo what a couple others are saying.

    How disappointing for her.

    @Afficionado

    The Return of the Starlet.

    On a couple of occasions, I’ve seen a “Toyota Starlet” car and it made me think of you. I will have to take a pic and post it here next time I see one.

    I hope you are OK, pal.

    I used to dislike onions. Not anymore. They’re not my favorite vegetable, but they’re alright. I like onions in chili and sandwiches.
