Never, never, never admit to that!

It won’t help, you won’t get forgiven, and it will break something that can’t be fixed. Sometimes a lie really is the best course, but always try very hard to be real about feelings.

Remember, honesty is the best policy.

Provided you aren’t heavily insured, and your spouse doesn’t have a good alibi.

Apparently this guy never watched The Red Green Show. How many times has Red Green given us men such sage advice as “Men who don’t lie to women can’t get wives,” or, “She may have told you she wants you to be completely honest, but she wasn’t being completely honest when she said it.” Lie, men. Relationships aren’t like courts; you lie in court, you get convicted of perjury. Lie in a relationship, you may just save your own hide.

HighPriestMikhal – Thanks for the wisdom of Red Green! (I used to watch it years ago on PBS, but we moved, and our cable company doesn’t carry that station.)

If anyone will not tell the truth honestly, the dead body will turn upside down and face down instead of up in the coffin.

I was completely honest. Then I lied. You believed the lie.

Everyone doesn’t lie. That’s the problem. I absolutely refuse to lie and if someone loves me, they’ll understand.

I’ve yet to find anyone that is understanding. And at this point in my life, I can’t relearn how to socially interact by including lying.

@ Night-Gaunt49: If everyone lies & cheats and the world is in chaos and bedlam how do you “know” that everyone telling the truth and being honest wouldn’t rectify that? We’ve all built up such towering, fragile egos due to a lifelong expectation of hearing meaningless pleasantries. If we knew we might hear some unpalletable truths when we interacted with others then maybe we would all develop a bit of humility and look at perfecting ourselves rather than trying to force others to conform to our narrow world view.

I gotta say, I find it very hard when someone is fishing for a compliment “does my bum look big in this?” and all I can think is “lay off the donuts and ride a bike now and then!”.
