Talk? Living alone and in these shut-down days, I rarely do that, even though I am among the ancient ones of the last century….

I do not do this very often, but I agree with Broomhilda this time.

I was in the doctor’s office – as a patient this time – while a mum and her two daughters texted each other. The mum’s ringtone was a quaking duck, and she would sometimes look up from her phone to remind one of hem that they hadn’t answered her last text. Drove everybody in the waiting room nuts.

The receptionist finally reminded them that there were signs telling them not to use their cell phones. Mum got rather shirty about it.

I can see a great market for artificial thumbs in the near future.

that exactly happened to me when I ‘discovered’ irc (the thing before messaging); a bunch of weirdos in the same room, and it was more interesting to write it and make it go to some other computer than just turn the head and speak to the guy sitting besides you. Of course we were sitting in front of a computer, meaning we would not just walk into a pothole or crash into a light post

The same thing happened when e-mail came out. People would e-mail a worker that was in the next cubicle while expecting immediate replies. It really caused a severe drop in productivity as all people could do was monitor their e-mail and couldn’t get their work done.
