Four days of vacation down, just one more to go. But I got a lot done so far. Yesterday, I planted more garden. I planted sweet corn and carrots in my big garden at Mark’s place and I also planted some zinnias and marigolds there. In my back yard garden (which is small and doesn’t get a lot of sun), I planted some peas. I also planted 4 raspberry bushes and 2 blackberry bushes. They are predicting chances of rain for the next 7 days, but I hope to get my rhubarb picked Saturday before the rain comes.
On another note, I saw a bunch of deer tracks in my garden yesterday. It looked like there must have been 3 or 4 deer walking through the garden where I planted the green beans and watermelons a couple days ago and more tracks where I just planted the corn. Hopefully they won’t be going through and eating my plants once they come up. I wonder if my scarecrow, Clyde, would deter deer. I usually don’t put Clyde up until the corn gets ready to tassel.
Went to TJ Maxx yesterday. LONG line to the end of the building. I don’t need anything from anywhere that would make me stand in line to get into a store. Was anyone wearing a mask? Nope. Went across the street to Michaels. Same thing. Picked up Brad’s little truck after getting shocks. It’s a 1997 Ford Ranger and these were the original ones. Anyone in there wearing a mask? I think w all know the answer to that. Not even the customers. It’s like people are stupid with a death wish. I really with the governor hadn’t changed the health danger level from orange to yellow until after the holiday. Saw a LOT of out of state plates with recreation vehicles coming up to use Sand Hollow. My guess is nobody will be masked up over there this weekend. Me? I’m staying in. I still have plenty of quilts to work on. Just finished one yesterday and made two table toppers to match.
My father-in-law brought me some perennials from his garden yesterday, and said he will bring me more. Kind of wish he’d offered some before I spent $200 in having perennials shipped.
Little Annie is just too cute for words. To say nothing about being loving and caring to boot. I guess it reflects her creators thoughts and feelings. I think that is why I love this strip so much. That and Breaking Cat News and Bushy Tales. These strips say a lot about their creators.
Asking for good thoughts….We have taken on another rescue. There were originally three babies and no mom. The lady who found the babies tried to help and fed them “cows milk”!! We all know that is a no no!! Two died with bloody diarrhea and we have the third one. A tiny female who has no name yet…We have had to feed her via a tube into her stomach as she has no strength to nurse…after 3 days of this she has shown improvement. We even got a tiny little purr…(I did not know at this young age they purred). She is still not out of the woods so I will ask you kind folks to send good vibes toward Bakersfield Ca. to help this baby. She has a chance…but just barely. I do hate to lose them….really hate it. The vet checked her and just shook his head. She needed fluids which we gave via a needle under her skin. Had to stop as her skin is so fragile the saline just ran back out…so we are trying. Giving her a bit of baby food with formula now…and exercising her legs..(very stiff). Thanks..
Good answers, Annie. Today’s comic is quite clever. Absolutely brilliant! :) On another note, saw a robin and a rabbit while out walking today. I also saw a Stellar’s jay outside.
I got the official word today that my foster dog, Jasmine, has been adopted. She’s a Brittany and rescued by National Brittany Rescue. She will be transported to St. Louis next Saturday. I will make the first leg of the trip…to Caruthersville, Missouri about an hour and a half from here. Then it’s 3 hours to St. Louis where she will live out her life. I’m making a lot of lists and getting all her information and meds organized. She will visit my vet on Tuesday for a health certificate to travel with her.
UPDATE: Dear Friends…Thank you all so much! So much love and care from fellow cat folks. A quick update…the baby is about 4 weeks old and weighs just 6.5 ounces. So she is very tiny. Each day I think “well, this is it..she will be gone” but at first touch she moves and then cries a bit (she has to pee) and my wife and I set to work getting her cleaned up, fed (Karo syrup seems to perk her appetite..just a tiny bit) we have added a bit of baby food to the formula trying to get some muscle on her. Her legs are just sticks, so they will be moved and exercised. We do this routine every 4 hours and I am pushing 80 so it’s wearing. Slow improvement..very slow. At 4 weeks she should be running and playing…but at least she is alive. I am not sure what kind of future she has or if all this care we are giving is for naught. We cannot just stop and let her die…just can’t do that. We will continue until the baby gets better or decides that she has had enough! So far she is fighting…has a bit of a temper…but she is alive. Thank you again for all your thoughts and prayers. I dare not name her…it makes things more difficult if she can no longer make it.
