Thank you, all essential workers, for voting Blue in November to help elect someone who can do a better job to minimize the risk of you losing your life.
Words are cheap. Deeds say a whole lot more. For example, providing critical workers with PPE and stop trying to bankrupt the Postal Service out of existence.
Oh good, just what our essential workers need, a lazy thank you from a cartoonist who is still supporting the president whose incompetence made this crisis so much worse than it needed to be, and who is still actively still making things worse every day.
All these workers are risking their lives on a daily basis and Gorrell thanks them with blurry and stretched clip art of a flag:
http://clipart-library.com/clipart/LTd5kLqjc.htm
the left side of it has been erased so that it’s straight but in doing so leaves the flag with 44 stars.
If you really want to support our essential workers:
Stop supporting Trump, or at the very least demand accountability. It’s very clear that he knew about how bad this could be back in January and did nothing to prepare.
demand our frontline workers have the PPE they need
Call for people on the right to stop protesting against stay at home orders, especially those who show up heavily armed.
Demand that they respect stay at home orders and take this seriously. The whole point of staying at home is to keep hospitals from being overwhelmed with patients.
Support the senate democrats bill to provide hazard pay to essential workers:
Take the token “thank-yous” while you can.. Once this is over you will be forgotten/ignored as quick as you can blink an eye. You have been sacrificial entities.. asked.. expected.. to do the impossible with nothing.
Years ago I was a teacher making enough money to qualify for food stamps. NBC had this series of commercials where TV stars, whose weekly salaries exceeded my yearly salary, would thank a teacher. All I could think of was “how about a raise then?”. I’m sure there are people working in grocery stores , or delivering packages, or taking care of the elderly who are thinking the same thing.
When you are thanking all these people for all their hours of work, all the stress that they have endured, all the times that they have missed with their family, think of that when you decide to storm the cities without your masks, standing right next to your pals, toting your guns. Unless you are willing to help everyone by following the guidelines, save the thank you because it is empty if you don’t!
How do you hit the bs symbol for this post? if it would come from someone that actually cared about what is happening, I would hit a like. I know that this cartoonist does not give a rip based on previous cartoons
Let’s give them a military flyover. Everyone loves a military flyover. It does so much good to do a military flyover. Moral will increase with a military flyover. What? Oh no, we can’t do anything of actual use.
Would have been better for Trump and his political campaign machine to send out that thank you than his BS letter congratulating himself. Trump’s campaign should have to pay restitution for that letter and a YUGE fine for campaigning using taxpayer money.

Lots of others needing praise. None of them live in our WH.

A friend of mine wonders if calling them “heroes” makes it feel somehow okay to not provide adequate PPE.

If the right wing liars want to pretend they are grateful, stop the military fly overs and buy PPE for the doctors and nurses.
Stop spreading the disease with your phony protest movement and start testing.
Trump is keeping the country closed by not testing.

Covid cases expected to double by June 1
Testing is sorely needed, not pretending the country is ready to open.
