“One Hand Washes The Other” has been the 1%’s motto since Reaganomics.

Learning the hard way that our medical system is no longer the world’s best as even the 1% who enjoyed the best access to all the services, now has to wait.

There is a great dirty joke to be made here. Unfortunately if you think about it too hard, it’s all too real and not that funny.

Excerpt from a column by conservative pundit Jonah Goldberg (the entire columen is well worth reading, or people can “cheat” by reading some more extensive excerpts I posted over on Tom Toles): “For the past three years, as a conservative who just can’t board the Trump Train, I’ve been urged by people, including friends, to put my personal feelings aside and support the president. Such demands to become a cheerleader were easy to dismiss during a time of peace and prosperity as mere exhortations for partisan loyalty. But this is a different time, and it’s a real dilemma. Do you go along, even at the margins, with the fiction that Trump is up to this challenge? Or do you shine a light on his inadequacy?I think the answer depends largely on what lane you’re in. Governors and public-health officials, such as Dr. Anthony Fauci of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, need the support of the president to do their jobs. If that means swallowing hard and praising the president when it’s not warranted, that’s a small price to pay, at least during a crisis.”

Capitalism works fine until it needs a socialist bail out, every ten years or so.

The funny thing is is that the term ‘invisible hand’ doesn’t appear in The Wealth of Nations more than 3 times. Also, glad to see new comics!

The current admin and their cronies are absolutely NOT driven by any kind of market philosophy except greed and short-sighted profit taking. They do seem to me to be acting as though they completely believe in climate change and are just out to grab what they can before it’s too late.

Brilliant work, as usual. Brian is one of the few who get the quote correct (“the problem”); most misquote using the original axiom (“the disease”). It’s a small, but important difference — see http://www.desolationpress.com/essays/45asingle.html for additional thoughts on the subject
