I like that comparison. The Morlocks came from the oppressed working class and the Eloi from the elites. I wonder if “The Time Machine” was predicting the future.
I didn’t know there was an earlier version (1960, apparently), but the more modern one (2002) disturbed me for years with a brief but graphic scene with the aftermath of cannibalism…

Yes. When the book (remember books, aka hard copies?) was written, the difference was even greater than today.
