I think the shock at the end might be near-lethal. Better, imo, to keep lightly in touch with the news so as to maintain a little bit of built up tolerance.
Phillip Nolan was on a never ending cruise for the balance of his life, but he did get news and other info, just not on selected topics. He never would have found out about our current situation, but he would have heard of the changes within the Royal family. I can understand not wanting to find out about some things, I don’t think that a total blackout would be all that good of a thing.
When I was learning to be a librarian, I was told that it was a good idea to have some crappy books on the shelves along with the good ones, so that readers (and especially those in schools) would be able to tell the difference. I always thought that was a case of hope over experience.
Running away may be wise but, eventually, it makes us weak. This is one of those annoying ‘That which does not kill you makes you stronger.’ situations.
Problem is, Cap’n Eddie told Joe and Flo, and now he told Bob. Four people CAN’T keep a secret! Soon the no-news-cruise news will spread like a…like a…like a…well, I’m sure there must be SOMETHING that spreads! And then the newspapers and TV channels will find and descend upon their “hidden” island. Because they would be NEWS, you see!
In light of the threat from the covid-19 virus, all strips containing barrooms should be redrawn, as either Skype or simple phone calls. Your co-operation is appreciated in this difficult time.
Yeah, I never notice the twig and berries sign either… So Bob is the Guy in the Suit? And Victoria left him Three years ago? A little lost in that sub plot.

No wonder Victoria left Bob. He’s drinking at an establishment called the ‘Twig & Berries.’ Doesn’t seem to be a female friendly place.

Though death and darkness gather all about me
My ship be torn apart upon the seas
I shall smell again the fragrance of these islands
And the heaving waves that brought me once to thee
And should I return home safe again to England
I shall watch the English mist roll through the dale
For you are beautiful, I have loved you dearly
More dearly than the spoken word can tell
.

If you hide, you can’t vote or try to change things. No vote, no complaining.

What I don’t know can’t hurt me. Just so long as I’ve stockpiled toilet paper.
