Did anyone see Dershowitz’s latest defense argument?“Every public official that I know believes that his election is in the public interest,” celebrity attorney Dershowitz said. “And mostly you’re right. Your election is in the public interest. And if a president does something which he believes will help him get elected, in the public interest, that cannot be the kind of quid pro quo that results in impeachment,” he added.
So asking a foreign government to investigate a domestic political rival to obtain opposition research that can be used for a re-election is in the interest of the American people and not personal benefit. That is the most corrupt, authoritarian argument I ever heard. Note the defense has yet to explain why if this was in the national interest and foreign policy then why didn’t he go to Congress and tell them "I’m putting a hold on the aid until I see “insert condition(s)” from Ukrainian government"? Answer: cause it was personal interest and unjustified.
This was the only argument Derwienerschnizel could come up with. Just use an old, lame version of the Johnnie Cochran defense. He knew Trump would stiff him on his legal fee anyway.
Republicans remember how Nixon and Reagan made deals with foreign powers to get elected and neither was brought to trial for it. They are apparently using tried and true methods to continue getting elected.
The Republican Senate is a fully-controlled political entity. Utterly uniform. They all follow orders. Not as well as the Chinese, National People’s Congress, or Russia’s, Federal Assembly, but the Republicans are very close.

Trump’s slimey lawyers are really coming out of the far end of the swamp with their ever changing lies.

The picture isn’t quite right. It shows Trump with his fist up the Republicans’ butt, but it is missing how their heads are collectively up Trump’s.

The Republicans will win the vote, but they’ve lost the argument. How many times have the goal-posts been moved? I’ve lost count.
