I don’t worry about losing it but misplacing it does happen. I have a cord about 10 feet long.

Oh I remember, when I was growing up if your friends called, there was no privacy, You had a time limit and you had to watch what you were saying all the time because everybody heard you and your mom lecture you that phone is only for important matters and emergencies, But when you think about it , it wasn’t a bad thing ,kept you out of a lot of trouble.I am not sure I should be happy for kids nowadays.

Must be why it’s called a landline :-) … When talking business prefer a landline keeps me from asking “What did you say ?”

When my sisters and I were teens, our phone cord went from 5’ to about 13’. Dad was not amused.

A pluggers phone would still have a dial on it.

With my “land line” I don’t have to remove the handset from my ear to respond to the invariable prompts required to reach anyone. To each their own.. but for anyone who is frequently on the phone.. using it as a phone.. a land line is much handier.

I have a buddy – retired from US West, one of the baby Bells. He revels in the technology. His friends numbers ring straight through. All other calls have to enter a long code to be able to ring through and only after listening to a message that says if they are selling anything he will agree to listen to them if they agree that they will pay him $X per hour with a 1 hour minimum. Press 1 if you agree, your choice is being recorded.

Much to much work for me, but it keeps him out of the bars.
