    Stark raven mad, he was!

You’re a Poe fan if you think of him when Celine Dion sings, “My heart will go on!”

Anybody seen my red death masque?

Never share a meal with Arthur Gordon Pym…

The saddest thing about Poe is that, after his death, his worst enemy wrote a biography full of lies and malice to destroy his reputation. Those lies are what most people believe about him now. At least his fiction and poetry live on.

Oh, and he wasn’t mad. He obviously had depression, as well as a tragic, sad life, but he wasn’t crazy. Heck, he produced so much work in criticism, fiction, and poetry that he earned a living, no easy feat, then or now, and serious mental illness would have prevented that.

Mom used to read us Poe just before bedtime. Explains a lot, don’t you think?

Edgar Allen Poe I got to read in school with Howard Phillips Lovecraft at home on my own. Explains something about me, you think?
