Little objection was raised when you were dealing with the runner on second looking in and signalling the batter. The objections began when the guy with the high powered binoculars phoned the home dugout (who then relayed “hints” to the batter). Electronics are a substantial escalation!Progression from fists (2nd base) to knives (Binoculars) to guns (electronics).

I had the same feeling with “Deflategate.” Let me get this straight: an equipment violation in baseball — a spitball, a corked bat — gets you thrown out of the game, nothing more. An equipment violation in hockey — too much of a curve on your stick — gets a measly two-minute penalty. So how does an underinflated football become a monstrous thing that dominates newspaper headlines for months??
