The salary of a Representative or a Senator is currently $174,000 + perks. For that more than generous salary, Congress meets less than any other employment opportunity in America, one day out of three for the House, a bit more for the Senate.
God only knows what Trump is referring to when he speaks of the “do nothing” Congress – personally, I try to ignore ALL utterances from the White House since Trump is a proven pathological liar, but, if he is referring to the number of bills that cross his desk for signature, he should look to the truly massive stack of legislation backed up on Moscow Mitch’s desk!
Of course, Moscow Mitch says he only processes those bills which he feels the president will sign, which is just a sneaky way of saying those bills that Moscow Mitch WANTS the president to sign.
The Main Problem with Washington D.C. is not just with Trump and his administration (though that IS a problem), the problem lies with the Senate and the corrupt way in which it is being run – (it might be hard to feature how it could get any worse under Schumer, but we can see how badly its being run under Moscow Mitch so let’s try something else, okay?)
And, people, keep in mind that it is NOT ENOUGH to replace the moron in the Oval Office! The Senate must turn Blue, as well.
It’s “nice” to contemplate government without Trump – but getting rid of him won’t “fix” anything unless you also fix the Senate at the same time – and don’t forget to keep a “weather eye” on the House, as well! It’s been ‘repaired’, but that doesn’t mean it can’t go all wobbly again, tomorrow!
All politics is a cross between a juggling act AND a balancing act and you forget that at your peril.
That’s why I love the NHL. It’s the only sport of the majors to not have any real scandals. Plus guys can punch each other in the face and only get a 5 minute rest in the sin bin :)
