Long lived the “King”.

In an age of firebrands, Dr. King stood very much alone. While Huey Newton, Bobby Seale, Malcolm X, H. Rap Brown, Stokely Carmichael, and the rest said “take what you think you should have” King exhorted everybody to be a part of the social fabric, not a tear in it. Too often he is described as a great “Black leader” rather then the great American spiritual leader he was.

Mr. King would take offense at being referred to as “The King”. It goes against everything he taught us. That said, the cartoon was hilarious.

Let’s take time today to appreciate how far we have come and reflect on where we need to go to move forward toward racial equality. Peace to all! And remember it is the content of one’s character and not the color of one’s skin by which we should all be judged.
