For those of you who have an imagination, please imagine this: You’re aboard a sailing ship and there’s a canon near you. The ship is sailing through rough weather, so it’s pitching and rolling. Suddenly, the canon comes loose!. That’s what we mean by a “loose canon” and it’s scary as hell.
Or how about this: You’re the owner of a shop that sells china. The aisles are narrow so you can display more stock. Then a bull comes in, already upset, and swinging his head around, which causes crashing, which makes him more upset. You cannot control him: He’s too big. But he’s ruining your immediate and longer term profit with every step he takes. That’s what we mean by “A bull in a china shop” and it’s scary as hell.
Or (you don’t even have to imagine very hard at all): There’s a person who has control of the big red button and he’s a lunatic. That’s what we mean by “The Trump Administration” and it’s scary as hell !
