Reminds me of the story I just heard (and I hope its true) about some ice fishers who drove onto a pond at a reservoir, and drove around spinning donuts for a while before drilling the ice. The drilling machine fell through the hole and didn’t hit bottom for a while. The water had gone out leaving a layer of ice on top. One person drove the truck out, the rest of them refused to ride.
