I am opposed in principle to metooism, even when I agree with the point being made. What Clinton did was, in my own opinion, foolish and hurtful in many ways, but did not rise to the level of impeachment. What this one has done stands on its own, without need for comparison, without any doubt in my mind that it rises to and beyond the threshold for impeaching him and then removing him from office. And that’s just the emoluments. Then there’s the whole Ukraine thing which is apparently easier to try in the court of opinion, and also impeachable. That he is also an awful person is irrelevant.
Among many conservatives, illicit sex seem to be the sin par excellence. It is also usually the easiest to conceal among themselves, but to paste the lavish shame upon others. Why not upon Trump? And why not several of the other Deadly Sins? Avarice, Vanity, Envy … don’t they apply? Remember the Pharisees?

The investigation that the Liar-in-Chief wanted to have the Ukraine start on his 2020 political rival was bogus. There was no wrong on Biden’s part. trump just wanted to be able to say there was an investigation going on. It worked so well for him last time. He has no interest in stopping corruption in the Ukraine or anywhere else.
Too bad we already know the GOP wouldn’t do that. It is documented fact that #45 had unprotected sex with a porn star WHILE married to Melania, who was PREGNANT with Barron at the time, and paid her off illegally as well. If you don’t think #45 would continue his activity while in the White House, you’re naive at best. But we’ve already dug up so many more, more horrific criminal acts that this seems almost quaint.
Besides, as anyone who follows actual history knows, despite the assertion that Clinton’s impeachment was about lying under oath, what Clinton did was NOT illegal, and it was purely a ploy to undermine Clinton’s term in office, if only because the leaders of the GOP effort to remove him were all guilty of the same behavior or worse DURING the impeachment proceedings!
There is no equivalency here, and no one should pretend there is. Whatever the moral failings of Clinton, he was not a traitor to this nation shattering the Constitution with the support of his party.
Double standards are the raison d’être of political parties. Nevertheless, the level of denial regarding trump’s incompetence by the Current members of the Republican party is astounding.
