The pregnant woman feels big and unattractive, little realizing the effect the appearance of a pregnant woman has on men, like John today. I remember reading about a study on the subject some years ago, but I can’t find it.

Every once in a while, John gets it right!

Made for each other… a rare and precious thing in this world.

I would be more worried about your mirror showing no face.

Beauty is a measure of how much we treasure something or someone.

This was the one comic I remembered from the pregnancy arc. It was nice to see it again. :)

And then there are such tender moments as these between them that are too often forgotten by some readers who seem to see only the nasty ones.

I like how the mirror in Panel 3 suggests how Elly “has not yet put her face on”.

Even the ugliest woman with a big inheritance is beautiful!

I still have the card from my husband during my first pregnancy where he vowed to love me twice as much – for mother and baby.

As I get much older and less attractive, I still appreciate my husband telling me how beautiful I am. That’s love.

The right words at the right time.

Well done John! I was just thinking about this yesterday as my wife and I come up on our daughters 1st birthday. She was completely oblivious to this as well when she was pregnant.

Saying good bye to my 8-months pregnant wife when I got on the plane to Viet Nam some 50 years ago was tough—hard to hug someone that “big” too.

That sculpture of the “Primal Venus” is all about the pregnant round. And only in the past few thousand years have men wanted ultra slim women with oversized breasts. Flat bellies and muscular buttocks etc…contrary to current mores by Madison Avenue as to what women should all look like real women are forced to conform or be thought as less than women. More so than what men are subjected to.

I find it so touching that so many men feel the same way John does. When their wives are pregnant and feeling at their lowest, the men think they are at their best.
