As usual, Steve Kelley gets it backwards on the due process and the current congressional hearings.
No, Trump and the Republicans are not losing any rights or being denied due process in any way.
Up until now, they have been in an investigative phase. The suspect does not get to participate in questioning of potential witnesses in the investigation phase. Duh.
Trump will have every right to present witnesses and cross examine accusers in the trial, which will be in the Senate.
Now they are moving to a public hearing phase in the House, which is more like a grand jury, to determine if a formal charge (the impeachment) will be brought forward.
Unlike a grand jury, the suspect WILL be allowed to have a lawyer present and question witnesses.
As for due process? Unlike Democrats, whose cabinet members under Obama and previous presidents DID testify in response to subpoenas, Republicans are obstructing congress, obstructing justice and repeating one of the crimes that was included in the Articles of Impeachment against Nixon, so give me a break about Republican whining on “due process.”
The Republicans will have equal questioning and cross-examination time, and can also propose witnesses, as long as the committee as a whole agrees they are relevant to the hearing (i.e., can’t go off on tangents such as carrying out Trump’s attempt to use the process to smear political rivals or revive discredited old conspiracy theories unrelated to the actual issue at hand: accusations of bribery, high crimes and other misdemeanors by the “president” of the United States).
That’s a howler. Which party is operating by the due process fully designed and described by the GOP? That would be the Dems. Who, by the way, have figured out that a wolf-whistle isn’t appropriate.
It’s cute, too, that Kelley has drawn the blind Due Process lady so much more attractive than the “Get Trump” lady.
PS: Justice is blind during the course of the trial so as to avoid prejudice. But during the grand jury phase (that’s what the Dems are up to now) the rules of the game are much more about getting all the facts even if the evidence that leads toward them isn’t up to trial standards.

Mr. Kelly and all Trump supporters have convinced themselves Due Process means ignoring the Trump–Ukraine violations, the Foreign Emoluments Clause of the Constitution; collusion with Russia during the campaign for the 2016 United States presidential election; obstruction of justice with respect to the investigation of collusion; and associating the Presidency with White Nationalism, Neo-Nazism and Hatred. Sorry, cons; our system of government isn’t supposed to work that way.

“Due process” is for the trial, as republicans already know, they would rather bury the evidence and threaten the witnesses.

What do you do when you’re to dumb or stubborn to admit that you supported the worst “leader” in America’s short history?
Lie and distort.
You should be careful mentioning “due process”. Impeachment falls under that heading.

The Republicans are running away from Due Process as fast as their legs can carry them.

Kelley appears to be so confused about so many things in just one comic. I guess it comes from speaking from a rectal position.

Republicans want due process? Isn’t that what the Dems gave them? And weren’t they operating by the same rules that the Republicans installed in 2015?
