If on good behavior, I think he’ll get out by Saturday.

“Grounded” is subject to interpretation – especially, since kids today spend more time on their phones and computers than actually, physically, going anywhere.

Grounding me as a teenager was difficult for my folks. Mom didn’t drive, Dad was at work, I had a car and a license and errands needed to be run or grocery shopping had to be done. I could come up with dozens of legitimate reasons why I shouldn’t be confined to the barracks.

Grounding meant I could stay in my room with my books and my microscope.

Careful, karma may come back and smack you in the back of your head.

Never was grounded in my life. I was hit by my mother twice in my life – once each while in kindergarten and once in first grade – and my husband agrees both times she was wrong.

Other than that I was a rarely punished – if at all. One problem was that if my parents tried to punish me there was a misunderstanding by me. My mother would say “do such & such or go to your room”. I thought it was a choice and I would go to my room (which was not filled with toys). The times I remember this happening seems to be when parents had some plans that involved me doing or going somewhere and they would spend the rest of the night and the time they had plans for, trying to get me out of my room as I would refuse to leave having my decision to be there.

Yeah, I was terribly strange child and am a terribly strange adult.
