The way I see it, the Democrats have two main options:
A) Do the politically courageous thing and vote to impeach Trump. The GOP lead Senate will obviously squash the impeachment effort, Trump will endlessly attack the Dems, and Trump supporters will further rally around Trump. But at least the Dems will finally get the GOP on record as supporting Trump’s corruption, which they’ll be able to use during the Congressional election campaigns.
or
B) Do the cowardly thing and back off of impeachment. Trump will use it to further pretend he’s innocent and endlessly attack the Dems while Trump supporters will further rally around Trump. Voters will see the Dems as weak and fewer voters will bother going to the polls.
I’m sure y’all know which option I think they should take and which I think they will take.
A popular song of 1939 assured the frightened British “There’ll Always Be An England.” In my naivete as an American, I had always thought there would always be a United States. Now, in my old age, I’m not so sure.
Sorry, Jim, but the donkey’s sign is just not as snappy as the lion’s. Now, if you had an elephant holding a sign saying: “SyrExit”, that might do the job.
Not quite apropos. Turmp’s “high crimes and misdemeanors” (18th cent. code for “abuses of power”) are crimes against the Constitution and against the American people, not against the Democrats! It’s a sad commentary that, with still scattered and rare exceptions, Republicans don’t seem to see anything wrong with Trump’s conduct in office (and the conduct of the grifters and incompetents he has installed in positions of power).
Until now. But that only begs the question, WHY now? Is it really possible that making a very small number of very rich people even richer (his only actual achievement in office, if you exclude the destruction of alliances and the cosseting of our enemies) is enough to wipe away all of his many other malfeasances, high, low, middling, and unspeakable?

Geez Jim, you forgot to label the signs, since in both cases, all roads lead to Russia, it should be easy.

Britain has it easy. If they want to do the right thing (and stay in the E.U.), they just have to not leave.
America needs to be a lot more proactive to cure their disease.

It will take generations to wash the trump stain from the USA and the world.

It’s coming, next November (if not earlier, due to impeachment). THIS TIME, VOTERS, DON’T STAY HOME! VOTE!

I understand both sets of pain, one more immediately than the other. And the solution is pretty much the same: A better election.
