Kittens unfortunately become Cats. Now having spent some time living on farm in the Midwest, I do like Cats. Just not in my house, but that is mostly due to my allergies. Some dogs will trigger it to.

I think a kitten is just what those two pups need. The relaxing sound of a feline purr will put them right to sleep
