“Paint by the numbers cave drawings!” An astounding and puzzling find for present day archeologists!
Just as future archeologists, many thousands of years from now will puzzle and wonder why so many unearthed preserved corpses from our era had “tattoos.”
I remember paint by number being a “thing” back in the early to mid 1970s (and apparently the early 60s, long before my time)… maybe it was dying off by then? I think they are still sold someplace, but I haven’t seen one in a while. :-P
The last panel was adapted as the cover of one of the paperback collections: B.C. STRIKES BACK. Red was added to one of the paint pots, and to one area of the ox. You can see it here:https://www.amazon.com/B-C-Strikes-Back-Johnny-Hart/dp/B0053P6AX8
Thanks to all the home made inks, we still have the beautiful art today! Cave drawings told us stories of early life, and struggles…Then came Picasso…..
Oh yeah, I remember those well. They were still very big back in the ’60s when I was a kid. All those little water-based paints in a tray you had to wet before using. Unfortunately even with paint-by-numbers I was no Picasso..

Hmmm…is that paint by numbers, or different cuts of meat? Those are some tasty looking areas there.

1. That’s going to be one oddly coloured animal.

How does he remember which number belongs to which colour?
