When I was in the Navy, we theorized that all of the information of a Tech Manual could be transferred into your mind if said manual was smacked into your head, just hard enough. Unfortunately, our testing mostly resulted in concussions.
I did that with note cards in grad school. The information on them did not soak into my brain but it kept me from sleeping much as I kept waking up to study the cards.
