It’s 2049 in a world in which WWII had been fought between the US and the Soviet Union. The war ended in 1949 with a nuclear exchange that killed 99.99% of humanity. Among the nearly-extinct remnant of survivors is a scientist who creates a time machine. He decides that the only way to save humanity is travel back in time and find a common enemy to unite the Americans and the Soviets. So he jumps back to the 1930s and creates Hitler. The world is saved.

I’m writing this 10 days in the future. Just saw the season finale of “Rick and Morty” and they had a similar joke – only with Snake Hitler. This comic came out days before the episode aired, and the show takes months to animate, so neither could have ripped off the other… unless someone DOES have a time machine. Ruben????
