Trump just signed an Executive Order to allow copper mining on Native American land in Alaska. According to a Republican-passed law, this is “infrastructure improvement” as mining operations (including strip mining and fracking) have been reclassified.
Let’s not discuss the water pollution and associated fish kill.
This land was protected by a law passed by the House and Senate and signed by President Obama – there’s your problem – it was done by the “Black man in the White House” and therefore must be reversed. The Republicans have a push to remove Obama from history.
The main issue is that Trump believes that he can declare any LAW null and void as easily as signing his golf card.
Infrastructure: “the system of public works of a country, state, or region” ; Merriam-Webster. Copper mining is not infrastructure. Continual infrastructure repair is what you’re going to need when that copper mine starts operating. Mr. Trump could sign an Executive Order proclaiming that “Donald J. Trump is a reasonable, very smart person”, but that would not make it so.
