They have for almost a year now, and it’s on the front page. Must have been a slow news day.

We can tell that mom is really impressed! Not.

What I find interesting is that all their children have blond hair! Maybe one out of four could be blond, but all of them? Makes me wonder.

Andy is not theirs and Max is from her first marriage/relationship.

I like little Luci peeking up with Max in the last panel. :-) I think they want some of Mom’s toast.

…and the “news” about netflix, streaming, and wii is in a print newspaper?

Another comment on the hair thing.

Andy is the only one who really has blond hair. The other two kids are so young that they may grow out of the blond hair. My brothers and I all had blond hair until we were about six and then it started darkening. Two of us now have dark brown hair, and the third has black hair.

Luci’s not blonde, she has red hair.

Besides, if Joan and Wally each carry one gene (dominant) for black hair and one gene (recessive) for red or blond hair, they’d both have black hair but there’d be a 25% chance that any given child would carry two recessive genes and be a redhead/blond.

Now if both Wally and Joan were BLOND and Luci had BLACK hair, Wally should ask Joan some serious questions…

I like the informative comments catching those of us who have just discovered this strip up on some of the history.

I thought Andy’s parents got divorced. Is there a website with the correct background?

Sometimes I think I know more about the Stones and the Pattersons than I do about my own family. Which obviously isn’t saying much.

^ There’s wikipedia. This is what it says about Andy:

Andy Gilburt is Wally’s 15-year-old nephew, who doesn’t think too highly of rules but has no qualms about playing hard rock music at earsplitting levels. Andy moved in with Wally during Wally and Joan’s engagement. He has endeared himself to Holly in countless ways. Recently his parents decided to divorce and Andy chose to live permanently with Wally and Joan.”

It’s quite possible that the information about the Wii streaming Netflix was not in the news, but rather was an advertisement for the Wii on the page Wally is reading.

Amari - I also had light blond hair as a youngster and got darker (an ugly “dishwater blond”) and often had it colored or did myself, finally doing “frosting” a few decades ago, then just kept natural for a while and now I’ve lightened natrurally. The hair pieces in my photo are papier mache, but have my own hair covering them (with a gold braid mesh) and are sewn to a linen band for my medieval costume. I like the way it matches my current hair color and I can pin on any lightweight silk veil.

Gosh, vldazzle, that’s more info than I need on any given day. I too have pictures when I was 2 and 3 which show blond hair. Then it quickly turned black. The bummer is that I started to get grey hair when I was 22 and had all grey by 37 years old. I guess the best way to live is to have the grey of 60’s years old and the mind of a 22 year old while being 45. In all, I’m okay on average.

I had one son born with hair so light is was transparent, and the other one with hair all black. Now they are both potato brown just like their parents.

That is a nifty feature. Not only does it compensate for the Wii not being able to play DVDs, but the advertising is actually pretty good, inserting Wii Remotes into parodies of familiar movies. What would you do if a movie character handed you a Wii Remote?
